Participation in Chicago's study abroad programs
requires careful and informed planning on your part. An obvious first
step in this process is investigating these programs using this web
site and its links. The equally obvious next step is a consultation
with your academic advisor to plan a program of courses that will
place you in a strong position for overseas study. In this regard
it is useful to keep in mind that, apart from language and course
requirements specific to individual programs, a student who has taken
relatively full loads of the right courses (that is, general education
and preliminary concentration courses) will normally be in an improved
position to take part in these programs (and their applications will
be strengthened thereby).

The Study Abroad Coordinators are happy to advise anyone interested in these programs. Please stop by the Study Abroad Office, Harper Memorial 203 to speak with a coordinator, In addition, a series of recruitment meetings covering all of Chicago's programs abroad, is presented in November (a complete schedule of these meetings is mailed to every student in the College). In general it makes sense for you to seek advice from all quarters-advising staff, faculty, students-in planning a venture abroad.
