Application Tips

Please note: With the one exception noted below, study abroad programs sponsored by the undergraduate College of the University of Chicago are open to University of Chicago students only. Applications from outside the University are not accepted.

The one exception to this rule: The University of Chicago's program in Toledo is open to Northwestern University students. Such students should complete Chicago's General Application as well as the supplementary application specific to the Toledo Program. They should also complete whatever forms Northwestern itself requires of its students who will be studying abroad.

The application process for all College-sponsored study abroad programs is in two parts:

1. general application
2. supplementary (program-specific) application

If you have not already completed and submitted (on-line) the general application, you should do this now. Submitting that application will bring you back to this page.

Below is a list of Chicago's programs abroad. (Note that the ACM Programs, the British/Irish University Programs, and the Civilization Programs are each represented by a single collective application.) Each application contains detailed completion and submission instructions. Please follow these instructions closely. Your application to a program abroad is not complete until you have submitted both the general application (completed and submitted on-line) and a supplementary, program-specific application.

Multiple applications: Students are permitted to apply to up to three study abroad programs in a given academic year (in this reckoning, the collective British/Irish and Civilization applications each count as a one-program application). If you have already submitted an application this year (both parts, general and specific), you need to complete only the supplementary application for the second (or third) program in which you are interested. You do not have to complete a new general application.

The applications below are available in PDF (requires Adobe Acrobat Reader). To complete the applications, download the pdf on to your computer. Upon completion, print out the application and submit it to Harper 203 by the appropriate deadline. Admission decisions will be made and communicated to students via email by the beginning of spring-quarter. If you are having problems completing the application on-line, you can print the application and complete it with legible handwriting.
