  • College advisers can help students
    • Think about how to incorporate study abroad into their college experience
    • Research and select the best program given the students' interests, needs, and desires
    • Locate sources of funding (hyperlink needs to be changed to https://frogs.uchicago.edu/) to help defray the cost of travel abroad

Tips for Completing the Application:

  • Read the directions carefully and follow them closely
  • Be succinct (avoid verbosity and grandiose clichés)
  • Be clear (use precise language and make every word count)
  • Be correct (grammar and syntax matter)
  • Be responsive (answer the questions)
  • Always take the submission deadline seriously

Letters of Recommendation

  • Choose a recommender who knows you well and can provide useful, detailed information. As a courtesy, give this person a minimum of four weeks notice before the deadline.
    • For language study or academic year programs, the reference should be an instructor who can speak about your work in the classroom.
    • For civilization and discipline-specific programs, the reference can be an instructor, adviser, a student head, or a coach
