If you're considering the Paris year-long program, one of the best ways to make friends is through clubs. You can join clubs either at the university where you take classes or in your neighborhood. As soon as I arrived in Paris, I knew I wanted to join a theatre club and found one through the help of the Center in Paris. There was a catch though: This theatre club was for French students who wanted to perform American musical comedies -- in English!

In the end, this turned out to be a great thing. I made lots of new friends and got to feel, a little bit each week, like I was in the US. We worked together from October to June on the musical Oklahoma and performed before live audiences. If you're interested in the English theatre program, you can visit its website at http://thang.enst.fr/ or send me an e-mail at srlanar@uchicago.edu. The club holds rehearsals at a university which is a 20 minute walk from Cité Universitaire.
