Michaela Foreman is a Program Manager in the Study Abroad Office. Michaela began her introduction to study abroad opportunities as a Girl Scout where she studied abroad for the first time in Costa Rica learning to surf and living directly in the rainforest and on the beach with locals. Later, she participated extensively in study abroad programs both in high school and college. She has studied in Paris, Madrid, Dubai, South Africa, Austria, Peru, and Indonesia.

Michaela is a Chicago South Side native and a proud alumna of The University of Illinois Urbana Champaign (UIUC) where she earned a Bachelor’s in Information Systems and Marketing. She also holds a Master’s degree in Sociology and Education Policy from Teachers College, Columbia University (NY). Her research focuses on the intersections of critical race media literacy, technology, identity, and curriculum development in K-12 schools and higher education.

In her free time, Michaela loves watching Bob’s Burgers, trying new restaurants, attending concerts and sporting events, jet setting around the world, and going on long walks with her sweet Pitbull Frankie.
