Anna South is the Project Coordinator of Study Abroad. Her first international education experience happened when her family moved to Germany, exposing her to both classic German kindergarten and an international school. For university, Anna studied English Literature with the William & Mary/University of St Andrews Joint Degree Program, where small cohorts spend two years in Virginia and two years in Scotland, graduating with a degree from both schools.
Anna has worked in many educator roles, from early childhood and theatre education to English language teaching. Before joining UChicago in 2024, Anna spent two years working in Turkey as an English teacher and program assistant for the Turkish Fulbright Commission. In the aftermath of the February 2023 earthquakes, Anna helped coordinate grantee evacuations out of southeast Turkey, and organized additional support services.
When she’s not at work, Anna enjoys cooking, petting dogs, and listening to podcasts while folding laundry. Some of her favorite travel destinations include much of Scotland, Turkey, Tbilisi, and Baku.
