Sarah Walter is Senior Associate Dean and Chief of Staff in the College. She joined the College in 2007 as a Study Abroad Program Coordinator and served as Director of Study Abroad from 2011–2023. As Senior Associate Dean, Sarah provides strategic vision for and oversight of the John W. Boyer Center in Paris, Study Abroad, and the Offices of Undergraduate Research and National Fellowships. As Chief of Staff, she supports the Dean of the College in developing and implementing strategic plans, incubating programs and projects, and fostering communication and coordination among College leaders and units. As an undergraduate, Sarah spent a year studying abroad in Tours, France, where she lived with a host family. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in French from Bowling Green State University and a Master’s Degree in the Humanities from the University of Chicago. Prior to joining the College, Sarah taught French and Humanities courses in Chicago-area community colleges. Outside of work, she enjoys traveling and exploring Chicago’s many neighborhoods with her family.
